To all who were concerned about my eyes due to a recent photo, I took this for you. Thanks!

Today is #165 for me, meaning I have 200 more to go in this self-portrait project.
Today I also revisited my reasons for beginning this: as a motivator to take more photos, a way to get past feeling uncomfortable/self-conscious in front of the camera (as opposed to behind it), and as a way to express myself. I expected it to be a sort of mirror of my life at least half the time too.
But has it become any of these things? Yes I take more photos, and I'm less self-conscious in front of a camera than I was 4 months ago (still have a long way to go before I'm cool with it). But self-expression? A mirror of my life?
Actually, yes. My shots are nearly always rushed, typically unplanned, an afterthought if you will, captured usually after a long day (like myself, last priority after everything else and everyone else is dealt with); I resent having to take the shots 8 out of 10 times (resent my responsibilities in real life); I gauge most of my photos against others (lack of self-confidence and a need for comparison to seek value); and I even feel a little twinge of disappointment when I log in and see no feedback (dependent on others to determine my self-worth, and to satisfy that damn need to please).
How much closer to my life could this be? I've been in denial.

My eyes should not be open in here. In fact, I should have my goggles on. What I won't do for a picture! Day 52 of 365.

I have a monthly membership at the tanning place, but I haven't been going much lately. I decided I'd better get back in because it's summer out here and I'm lookin a little pale.

The tanning bed habit is a hard one to break. It's so stupid yet so relaxing to bask in the artificial glow of UV radiation for a few minutes every week, just to keep some color in the ol' skin.
Judge me if you must, but you do not want to see me pale. Trust.

This is the finished prototype for a tanning bed designed in AutoCAD. The frame is made from pine and assembled with steel rods. The top is wired with fluorescent bulbs and plexiglas lay on the inside.

Scott and I started tanning to prepare for Hawaii since our winter skin is quite pale and white. I'm not sure why people do this all the time though as I find it to be so boring!

Didn't do much today. Went tanning to get some more of my base tan for my cruise to Key West and Cozumel. Only 16 more days!
